Spring into Spring

This half term we will be investigating the Spring Season. The children will learn about the changes that occur at this time of year; how the daylight hours increase and the temperatures rise. They will examine the effects on our flora and fauna.

The children will learn about the activites of the hedgerow birds; the building of nests and raising of their young. How bulbs begin the sprout, grow and eventually flower. They will plant seedlings and be shown how to look after them. We will discuss why we need the sun and rain to make our crops and plants to grow.

In addition, we will be focusing on health and body awareness through diet and exercise. Healthy foods will be promoted in the role play area and displayed on the taste table (at snack time).

You may like to visit the library to find books about the Spring or perhaps make a note of the differing weather conditions over the next few weeks as we hopefully move from winter into spring.
